As Tamil Nadu prepares for the 2026 Assembly elections, significant political shifts are underway. Actor-turned-politician Vijays party, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), is reportedly pursuing a grand alliance by engaging with expelled AIADMK leaders O. Panneerselvam (OPS) and AMMK chief T. T. V. Dhinakaran.
Sources indicate that both OPS and Dhinakaran refuse to accept AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) as the NDAs chief ministerial candidate, exacerbating rifts within the opposition. TVK has acknowledged these discussions, signalling a strategic move to consolidate anti-EPS factions.
Veteran AIADMK leader K. A. Sengottaiyan, now TVKs chief coordinator, is leading these crucial talks. Sengottaiyans experience and influence, particularly in southern Tamil Nadu, are expected to bridge gaps between the parties. A final decision on the alliance, including seat-sharing, is anticipated after the Pongal festival in January.
