Ozempic ALERT: New Study Flags Suicide Risk | TGA Issues Major Global Warning

| Updated on: Dec 04, 2025 | 07:51 AM

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has triggered a significant political controversy with his recent remarks concerning Indias first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, particularly regarding the Babri Masjid.

Singh alleged that Nehru desired the Babri structure to be rebuilt using public money, a proposition he claimed was met with opposition from Sardar Patel, whom he described as a proponent of decisive governance over appeasement.

Further escalating the claims, Singh stated that following Patels demise, Nehru attempted to redirect funds originally collected for Patel's memorial towards roads and wells, characterising this as an effort to diminish Patels legacy.

The Defence Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with restoring Sardar Patels rightful place in history through initiatives like the Statue of Unity and decisions such as Article 370.

The Congress party has swiftly condemned Singhs allegations, dismissing them as "fiction" and lacking any historical evidence. Priyanka Gandhi, a prominent Congress leader, characterised these statements as "diversionary claims" designed to distract the public from pressing contemporary issues. This dispute highlights an ongoing "war of words" over the historical legacies of Indias founding leaders.
