New Delhi: The year 2025, like any other passing year, turned out to be rollercoaster ride for the sporting world all across the globe. As number of varied sports gave us moments to cheer about but some happenings and events left us dejected too.

While we became joyous when a record was scripted in any of the sporting discipline but we were left sad while witnessing any low or any sort of misery with our favourite sportsperson. The spectacular highs helped us witness a lot of fan frenzy which kept everyone hooked to the sports while the miserable lows took us away from field, albeit for a less time.

Within a bag full of sporting activities across various disciplines, we also witnessed the passing away of some of our favourite sports personalities, which literally pushed us all against the wall. As the year comes to an end, let's remember the sportspersons who left for heavenly abode in 2025.

Hulk Hogan

One of the most prominent wrestlers of all time, Hulk Hogan was known for his flamboyant personality and larger-than-life attitude which made the favourite of many. With his passing away in July this year at the age of 71 due to heart-related issues, Hogan left a huge void in the sporting fraternity which will be hard to fill for years to come.

Fauja Singh

Believed to world's oldest marathon runner, Fauja Singh passed away at the age of 114 years leaving the sports fans with a lot of memories. A British national born in India and nicknamed 'Turbaned Tornado', he unfortunately died in a road accident in India.

Diogo Jota

The death of young Portuguese footballer Diogo Jota at the age of just 28 was the most tragic thing fans heard from the sports industry. The budding football player who attained all the limelight at Liverpool, also playing for his national team, tragically passed away in a car accident in Spain in the month of July.

Dickie Bird

Dickie Bird left for heavenly abode at the age of 92 years leaving the entire cricketing fraternity in tears. Started off his professional career as a player for England, majorly playing for both Yorkshire and Leicestershire, Bird also became a legendary cricket umpire after culminating his career as a player.

Dilip Doshi

Indian cricketer from Bengal Dilip Doshi left a void in the Indian cricketing fraternity after passing away in June this year at the age of 77. Doshi represented India in 33 Test matches and 15 one-day internationals as a slow left-arm orthodox. The former Indian cricketer also has county stints with Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire.

Bob Simpson

Bob Simpson was a former Australian cricketer who played for the national team, New South Wales and Western Australia. Simpson represented Australia in 62 Test matches also captaining the side. In the later stages, he also took over as Australia coach.

Greg Biffle

American motorsports racing driver Greg Biffle left the sporting world in shock when he passed away at the age of 55 years. Biffle owned a private jet that crashed at a North Carolina airport in the month of December leading to his death. He notably raced from 2002 to 2022 in a career which marked with numerous highs.
