Kuldeep Yadav continued his impressive run with the ball in India's much-anticipated clash against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday. Kuldeep, who wreaked havoc in India's opener against UAE, picked up a three-wicket haul to help the Men in Blue bundle out Pakistan for a paltry 127 runs in the high-pressure clash at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
Kuldeep picked up two wickets on two balls in his second over to make an instant impact in the game. He rattled the Pakistan batting line-up by dismissing middle-order batter Hasan Nawaz and all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz on consecutive deliveries in the 13th over of their innings. Hasan was dismissed cheaply on 5 off 7 balls, while Nawaz got out on a Golden Duck.
Kuldeep bowled a tossed-up delivery to Hasan, who went for a big shot on it. However, the Pakistan batter could only manage a thick edge and was caught by Axar Patel at slip. On the very next delivery, new batter Nawaz was trapped lbw by Kuldeep with a brilliant googly. The left-arm spinner missed out on a hat-trick, but did enough to derail the Pakistan batting line-up inside two deliveries.
Kuldeep didn't stop there as he returned to dismiss Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan in his final over of the game. Farhan departed on 40 off 44 balls after getting caught by Hardik Pandya on the boundary line. Looking to go after the spinner, Farhan tried to fetch a wide delivery from Kuldeep but ended up mistiming it as Hardik pulled off a great catch in the deep.
Kuldeep finished his spell with excellent figures of 3/18 off his 4 overs and was once again one of the standout bowlers for India in the game.
Indian bowlers produced a stupendous performance to restrict Pakistan to a low-key total of 127/9 in 20 overs after inviting the Men in Green to bat first in the high-profile clash. Hardik Pandya struck on the very first delivery of the match to get India off to a flyer before Jasprit Bumrah struck on the second over.
Pakistan failed to gain momentum after two early blows and could never recover. Farhan top-scored for Pakistan with a labourious 40 off 44 balls, while Shaheen Shah Afridi saved his team from the blushes with a sensational cameo of an unbeaten 33 off 16 balls towards the end of the innings to help them cross the 120-run mark.
