The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has added 19 new names to the final list of players who will go under the hammer at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction. The auction is set to take place in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, December 16. The IPL franchises were informed about the late additions during a meeting in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
As per a report in Cricbuzz, Bengal batter Abhimanyu Easwaran is among the 19 names who have been added to the final IPL 2026 players list. Easwaran has been listed as player no. 360 in the list. The final list, which now consists of 369 players, will be shared with the ten franchises ahead of the IPL 2026 auction on Tuesday.
The 19 new names added to the final list must have been done on the request of some franchises. Earlier, there were a total of 360 players in the auction list. Representatives of all ten franchises are already in Abu Dhabi for the mini-auction, which is expected to be an intense affair with all teams looking to strengthen key positions.
Abhimanyu Easwaran, Mani Shankar Mura Singh, Virandeep Singh, Chama Milind, KL Shrijith, Eathan Bosch, Chris Green, Swastik Chikara, Rahul Raj Namala, Virat Singh, Tripuresh Singh, Kyle Verreynne, Blessing Muzarabani, Ben Sears, Rajesh Mohanty, Swastik Samal, Saransh Jain, Sooraj Sangaraju and Tanmay Agarwal.
Several prominent Indian and overseas players are set to be part of the mini-auction. While the likes of Cameron Green, Jamie Smith, Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone and Matheesha Pathirana are among the overseas names who are expected to trigger bidding wars between franchises, teams are also expected to go after several uncapped Indian talents.
As per Cricbuzz, the Indian Premier League 2026 will get underway on March 26 and the final will be played on May 31. The ten franchises were also informed about the same during their meeting with the IPL stakeholders in Abu Dhabi ahead of the auction on Monday.
The dates were revealed by IPL's CEO Hemang Amin. However, it remains to be seen if the opening match of the IPL 2026 season will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Traditionally, the winners of the previous edition of the tournament have hosted the tournament openers. However, there remains uncertainty surrounding Chinnaswamy Stadium's availability for IPL 2026.
The Karnataka government has given conditional clearance to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to host IPL matches at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, KSCA has been asked to implement the recommendations made by the Justice D'Cunha Commission, which investigated the stadium after the stampede during RCB's celebration on June 04, which claimed the lives of 11 people and left many injured.
