New Delhi: Delhi Capitals put up an all-round show in a Women's Premier League (WPL) encounter on Saturday handing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) their first loss of the season. In the 15th match of the fourth edition in Vadodara, Capitals exhibited resilience to thrash RCB by seven wickets and earn their third victory in six matches.

Putting RCB to bat first, Capitals bowlers were spectacular in their efforts as they restricted the table-toppers to a paltry score of 109 in the stipulated 20 overs. Shree Charani bowled a disciplined four-over spell conceding just 14 runs and picking a wicket, thus lending her contribution in the wrath laid by the Capitals. Apart from skipper Smriti Mandhana's 38-run score, none of the batters in the line up could really make things up for the best team in the competition. Radha Yadav proved to be the next best scorer with 18 runs while the rest of the batters ended with single digit scores.

Easy chase for Capitals

The chase seemed to be quite easy for the Delhi Capitals (111/3) as Laura Wolvaardt played an unbeaten innings of 42 runs to steer the side home comfortably in just 15.4 overs. Skipper Jemimah Rodrigues scored 24 runs while Marizanne Kapp put up unbeaten 19 runs towards the end to complete the easy victory.

For the Bengaluru side, Sayali Satghare and Radha Yadav emerged as the wicket-takers claiming two and one wicket respectively. RCB play their next match against Mumbai Indians on Monday, January 26 while the Capitals lock horns with the Gujarat Giants in an encounter in Tuesday, January 27.
