New Delhi: Amid rising tensions and sinking ties, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to put the Bangladesh tour later in the year on hold. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), on Friday, announced their team's international calendar which included a three-match ODI and T20I series against India set to take place in October 2026.

But with BCCI's direction to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to release Bangladesh pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman, amid a huge hue and cry in India, the Indian cricket board has announced that they have decided to put the Bangladesh tour on hold and it will only proceed if an approval is given by the Indian government, mentions a report in Indian Express.

BCCI to consult India government

Meanwhile, the report further mentions that the BCCI will consult the Indian government before taking a final call and the same would be communicated to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in due course of time. It is also being learnt that the tour now looks to be in doubt with the thin turning into a Pakistan-like situation.

The same report also clarifies that that Bangladesh will play their T20 World Cup 2026 games in India, as per the schedule. 'We didn’t travel to Bangladesh last year too, BCB had issued their international calendar, but it looks doubtful, as we need Indian government approval to play in any other country. As far as the T20I World Cup is concerned, Bangladesh will play as per the scheduled games in India,' a top BCCI official said.

Earlier on Friday, BCB’s cricket operation in-charge Shahriar Nafees confirmed that the series against India had been rescheduled.
