New Delhi: Former Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was brutally trolled on social media after yet another shoddy performance during the second ODI against West Indies. Azam registered a thee-ball duck in game which saw the hosts claim a 5-wicket win to equal the series.
Babar, who had scored 47 runs in the series opener couple of days back, was cleaned up by Windies bowler Jayden Seales on the last delivery of the ninth over. The star batter attempted to flick the ball towards the midwicket area but missed it as the ball clipped the pads, striking the stumps eventually.
After the rain-affected match, users on social media mercilessly went after the Pakistan player trolling him for yet another shoddy show.
Here are some of the comments
Meanwhile, Babar's prolonged lean patch has already seen him lose in on the spot in the shortest format and the duck has sparked concerns over his batting which seems worrisome. It has been 71 innings since the right-hander scored a century. His last ton, a 151-run knock, came against Nepal in the 2023 Asia Cup as the batter struggle continues against the better sides in the world.
Though he scored a small knock in the series opener but failed to convert it. With the series decider remaining, Babar would be keen to come up with a good performance so as to shut down the trolls.
Meanwhile, in the match which was interrupted by rain, Pakistan had scored 171/7 in 37 overs when rain spoiled the play. It led to the innings being ended and with the DLS in place, the revised target for West Indies was 181 in 35 overs, which they easily managed to chase with more than an over to spare. Jayden Seales shined with ball taking three wickets while Roston Chase and Sherfane Rutherford scored 49 and 45 runs respectively. Skipper Shai Hope also contributed with useful 32 runs.
