New Delhi: Batting struggles for Babar Azam continued in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) as the star Pakistan player endured yet another batting failure on Friday. Struggling to score runs, Azam could just muster disappointing 2 runs off 7 balls for his side Sydney Sixers, which went down in their encounter against the Melbourne Stars.
The Pakistan batter, who is regarded as one of the best players, has been facing many difficulties while batting. Facing Stars' bowler Tom Curran, he attempted to drive a full-pitched ball that had a later swing to it which did the job for the opposition. It took the edge of Azam's bat carrying on comfortably to the fielder placed at first slip who was Glenn Maxwell.
This marked his third single-digit score in four matches in this BBL season. He was brought in by the Sixers teams to provide some stability at the top of the order but his current form has become worrying for his team as well. With repeated failures, the scrutiny has grown around his form as he has struggled to make some impressions in the league.
In upcoming games for the Sydney Sixers, it will become imperative for Babar to score runs to justify his place and position in the side. If he continues with his batting struggles, he might not be considered in the future games by the team and continued to be crticised by the entire cricketing fraternity.
Meanwhile after Babar's another failure, Daniel Hughes took the responsibility of the side on his shoulders with a 60-run knock which helped Sixers post a modest total of 144 runs on the board. In reply, the Stars made light work of the target posted by Sixers as they chased down the score with 7 wickets and 2.3 overs to spare.
Sam Harper played a blistering knock of 110 runs off just 60 balls including 6 massive sixes and 12 boundaries helping the side chase the score comfortably.
