New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are reportedly in advanced talks for a trade deal of Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson. According to a Cricbuzz report, both franchises are actively pursuing the deal.
The active negotiations have been ongoing between CSK and RR over the last few days. Both Jadeja and Samson have been retained for Rs 18 crore last season by their respective franchises. But the Rajasthan Royals are still not agreeing to a straight swap and insisting on the inclusion of another player, which could eventually prove to be the obstacle in this deal.
The Royals’ management is also believed to be in touch with a few other franchises, including the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and is also keeping communication channels open with the Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals, and Kolkata Knight Riders.
According to the report, the Rajasthan Royals are also demanding the inclusion of Dewald Brevis in the deal, who joined the CSK squad midway through the last season. Brevis attracted a record bid from the Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 Auction, with Jo'burg Super Kings, a subsidiary of CSK, backing out only before the final bid.
Manoj Badale, the UK-based lead owner of Rajasthan Royals, is currently in Mumbai and also leading their negotiations. However, CSK are firm in their stance and have no intention of including another player in the deal.
According to CSK, the franchise is already giving up Jadeja, who is one of the best all-rounders in the world currently. The Chennai-based franchise also consulted Jadeja before beginning the trade talks.
SRH is not too excited about Samson as they already have Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Ishan Kishan in their squad. As per the report, the franchise has no plans to part ways with Ishan and Heinrich Klaasen.
