New Delhi: In a major blow to the campaigns of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC), Australian all-rounders Ellyse Perry and Annabel Sutherland have withdrawn from their respective franchises from next month's Women's Premier League (WPL 2026).

It was confirmed on Tuesday that both the Aussie women players have citied personal reasons behind pulling out of the fourth edition of the women's league. The WPL 2026 begins on January 9, 2026 with Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians kicking off the campaign.

Savali and Alana named replacements

The WPL, on December 30, stated in a release that Indian all-rounder Sayali Satghare will join the RCB as a replacement for Perry. Meanwhile for Sutherland, fellow Australian leg-spinner Alana King is set to take her place in the Delhi Capitals squad.

While Savali, who happens to be Perry's replacement, will join RCB at her reserve price of Rs 30 lakh while Alana, who played for UP Warriorz in the last edition of the league, will join the Capitals at a reserve price of Rs 60 lakh. Alana has featured in 27 T20Is and picked up 27 wickets, having plenty of experience in the shortest format.

Meanwhile, left-arm seamer Tara Norris has also been replaced by Australia all-rounder Charlie Knott in the UP Warriorz’s camp. Norris, who played for the Delhi Capitals in the inaugural edition of WPL in 2023, has been named in the USA squad for next year’s Women’s T20 World Cup qualifier to be held in Nepal.

Perry's loss is a big blow to RCB's chances at the forthcoming edition. The all-rounder was the Orange Cap winner with 347 runs at 69.40 and also took seven wickets in 9 matches helping RCB clinch the title in 2024. After having a good season, she was retained for Rs 2 crore ahead of the 2026 edition.

Meanwhile, Sutherland also had a fine season with the ball in Delhi Capitals' run to the final last year, claiming nine wickets. Sutherland too was retained by the Capitals for Rs 2.2 crore.

The fourth edition of the WPL will be held in two legs at Navi Mumbai and Vadodara from January 9 to February 5.
