New Delhi: England all-rounder Moeen Ali has voiced his support in favour of Mustafizur Rahman amid the ongoing India-Bangladesh row. After the Bangladesh bowler was removed from IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on BCCI's directive, what followed was a lot of hue and cry in the cricketing fraternity.

With some were in favour of the decision in view of the current socio-political issues between the two nations, some are against the ouster of the Bangladesh player. To add to the voices, Ali has said that the removal of Mustafizur is completely a wrong decision taken by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

In an interview with bdnews24.com, the English player slammed the move taken by the Indian cricket board and the global governing body saying that he earned the Rs 9.5 crore contract through his years of hard work and patience. Ali called it as a loss not just to the Bangladesh player but also the IPL franchise which would have benefitted from his inclusion.

'I honestly feel the solution might eventually look more like football. You have the World Cup, ICC events, maybe one or two big international series, and then the rest is franchise cricket. Because the game is already struggling with these issues, and then what happened to Mustafizur on top of that makes it even worse,' he said.

He further said that this step is clearly not right and it is not only about Mutafizur, it is about all the ongoing issues. The problems can become bigger if it continues like this. The ongoing issue between both the countries is growing bigger with each passing day and Mustafizur's ouster is just a small part of it. The BCB even went on to appeal to the ICC that their matches in the T20 World Cup 2026 should be rescheduled to Sri Lanka from India.
