New Delhi: Team India is set to face an uphill task when they meet Australia in the semifinal of the women's World Cup 2025 on Thursday in Navi Mumbai. While Australia are the firm favourites in the encounter, India also can't be written off considering their full equipped squad and home advantage which makes them fierce, if not equally.

While Australia have been unbeatable in this showpiece event winning 6 out of their total 7 matches with rain spoiling a game while India have managed three victories and suffered as many losses with one of their game too spoiled by rain. As far as the combinations are concerned, India would aim at picking the right mix for the most crucial clash while with the playing XI against New Zealand the best suited one.

Considering the depth in Australia's batting, India will have go for an extra seamer in place of an all-rounder while for the Aussies, the playing combinations that they have carried all through would be enough to give India some jitters. With some of the matches being spoiled by rain in this marquee edition of the WC, it is expected that showers will disturb the game on Thursday as well, if not wash it away.

Let's take a look at the scenario as to what happens if the game between the two semifinalists gets washed out.

What if rain washes out play?

If play is not possible on Thursday due to rain, the match goes into the reserve day on Friday. If rain washed out the entire match on Friday as well, Australia will get a direct ticket into the ODI World Cup final. The reason for this would be that Australia beat India in the group stage match and have finished as the table-toppers with betters points than the hosts.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai weather has also been quite uncertain in the recent days and a yellow alert has also been issued for heavy rainfall. Fans would be keeping their fingers crossed and hope for a game to take place on October 30.
