From avoiding junk food to rigorous fitness regime: How Siraj prepared himself for lengthy spells in England

New Delhi: Mohammed Siraj shined in the recently-concluded Anderson-Tendulkar trophy emerging as the highest wicket-taker with 23 scalps. The right-arm pacer from Hyderabad impressed one and all with his superlative bowling skills, giving his best in all the five Test matches. While Siraj was effective all through the games, he played a pivotal role in the series finale at The Oval.

Bowling over 1000 deliveries with minimal rest is nothing short of exceptional and the pacer bowled his heart out delivering till the last moment for his side. For effectively bowling the long spells in England, Siraj had to followed a strict fitness regime, paying attention to his diet in particular. Siraj filled in the place for spearhead Bumrah who didn't feature in the series-decider du to workload management.

No fast food, strict fitness regime 

In an interaction with India Today, Siraj's brother, Mohammed Ismail has revealed the diet regime and fitness the pacer followed for the heavy workload he was offered in England. Ismail said that Siraj focused a lot on his fitness especially avoiding junk food. Considering the toughness of bowling in England, the ace pacer followed a strict fitness regime on a constant basis going in for a disciplined diet only.

Talking in length, his brother said that despite living in Hyderabad, Siraj doe not prefer to consume biryani and only haves it occasionally as he's particular about homemade food. The fast bowler also avoids consuming pizzas and continued doing the same before and during the England tour. While most of the bowlers bread down after bowling such long spells but Siraj, who was able to push beyond his limit, amazed all the cricketing fraternity.

Additionally, his brother also said that apart from following a strict diet and fitness regime, he made sure that he hit the gym regularly, practicing hard every morning and evening. The main thing was to identify what was missing and fixed it eventually.
