New Delhi: Former Pakistan fast bowler Tanvir Ahmed has blasted Mike Hesson for not being able to pick a proper team. Ahmed went on to call Hesson a 'third-class coach' for the Pakistan cricket team. Hesson was appointed as Pakistan's white-ball head coach in May this year and has had a decent start to his tenure.

46-year-old Tanvir was less that impressed with the fact that Men in Green lost a T20I series 1-2 when they toured Bangladesh in 2025. He further said that Hesson lacks the knowledge of selecting a proper playing XI for Pakistan and doesn't know how to pick a team. As quoted by A Sports, the former Pakistan player wrote this on social media handle X.

Mike Hesson is a third-class coach: Tanvir

'Mike Hesson is a third-class coach who doesn’t even know how to select a proper playing XI. He doesn’t even know how to pick a team,' Tanvir said.

Ahead of their tour to Bangladesh, Pakistan faced the same team in a T20I series in Lahore winning it 3-0. Following their back-to-back series triumphs, the highly confident Pakistan team travelled to the West Indies where they won the T20I series but lost the ODI series 1-2. The recently-concluded T20I tri-series in Sharjah was what followed where they took on Afghanistan and Uniter Arab Emirates (UAE). The side emerged victorious against the two lower-ranked teams as well.

Currently, the Men in Green are now featuring in the Asia Cup 2025 which is being played in the UAE from September 9. Pakistan will play their first match against Oman on September 12 in Dubai. This would be followed by the high-profile encounter against arch-rivals India on September 14. Looking at the stats, Hesson's tenure with the Pakistan team has been fine since he took over as the coach back in May.
