New Delhi: India crushed Pakistan by 88 runs in the Women's ODI World Cup 2025 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, October 5. It was the 12th consecutive victory for the Women in Blue over Pakistan in the ODI format. Kranti Goud was the pick of the bowlers, as she picked up three wickets and helped her side to defend a respectable total in a high-pressure game.
Fans heaped praise on the Indian women's team after they thrashed Pakistan on their fourth consecutive Sunday, as before this game, the Indian men's side defeated Pakistan thrice in the Asia Cup 2025.
Watch reaction here:
Pakistan won the toss and invited India to bat first, and were successful in putting pressure with the ball on the Indian side. The Women in Green bottled India's top-order and sent back half of their side on just 145 runs in 35 overs.
It was a Richa Ghosh show in the end, which helped India to post a respectable total of 247 runs. The wicket-keeper batter scored 35 runs off just 20 deliveries.
In response, Renuka Thakur and Gaud bowled the first 15 overs combined to get the most from the new ball. Pakistan lost their first three wickets in just 26 runs and scored just 30 runs at the 15-over mark.
Sidra Amin batted well as she scored 81 runs in just 106 balls, but apart from her, no batter gave her support, and with Indian bowlers taking wickets at regular intervals, Pakistan were never in the contest and lost the game by 88 runs. Only three batters crossed double-digit scores in Pakistan's batting unit.
It was Pakistan's second consecutive defeat and India's second successive victory in the ongoing ODI World Cup. With this win, India are on top of the points table with four points in two games.
