New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently facing massive backlash from fans for the limited television coverage of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 group-stage. Team India's star players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were in action on Wednesday for Mumbai and Delhi.

Ashwin, on his YouTube channel, said that everyone wants to follow Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as they had a great series and will be facing New Zealand next.

"They both have turned up, and turned up how! One scores 150 and the other 130, both with incredible strike rates. When players like these come and play, the matches become more exciting," Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

Both Rohit and Virat notched up sensational hundreds for their respective domestic teams. Rohit smashed a 94-ball 155 with the help of 18 boundaries and nine maximums at a strike rate of 164.89, while Kohli scored 131 runs off 101 balls, hitting 13 boundaries and three maximums.

'It is easy to say that all matches should be televised'

The former Indian spinner further added that everyone wants to see Rohit and Virat in action, but fans have to see how early the BCCI got the information that they will play. Ashwin further said that when the international calendar is given, the domestic one is also given at the same time.

"Once it is given, the BCCI and broadcasters will decide which stadiums are easy to cover from and which matches can be televised in advance. So the conversation was Rohit and Virat will play, but when? So, making that last-minute switch is difficult," Ashwin said.

The spinner further said that he can understand their frustration, but there are limitations, and it is easy to say that all matches should be televised.

"I think India has the maximum first-class teams. You cannot televise all matches. And other players from other teams want to showcase talent and are equally important to the ecosystem. I think we cut some slack there," he added.

Both Virat and Rohit will play their next Vijay Hazare Trophy match on December 26 as Mumbai will take on Uttarakhand and Delhi will face Gujarat.
