New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the opening of ticket sales for the men's ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Amid an excitement among the fans, the tickets will go on sale today, December 11 (Thursday) at 6.45 PM and Sri Lanka time (13.15 GMT).
The showpiece event, which will be jointly held by India and Sri Lanka, is slated to begin on February 7 and will last till March 8 with matches set to be held across eight venues. The tournament opener of the 10th edition is set to be played between Pakistan and Netherlands in Colombo and it will be followed by the match between West Indies and Bangladesh in Kolkata.
The prices for the entry-level ticket sales have been kept at a historic low of Rs 100 ($1.1) at some venues in India and LRK 1000 ($3.2), the ICC confirmed on Thursday. the dates for the phase two of the ticket sales is set to be announced soon. The tickets can be purchased at tickets.cricketworldcup.com, confirmed ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta.
'Phase I of ticket sales is an important milestone in our journey towards delivering the most accessible and global ICC event ever staged,' ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta said.
'Our vision for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 is clear: every fan, regardless of background, geography or financial means, should have the chance to access an in-stadia experience of world-class marquee cricket.'
'With tickets starting from just INR 100 and LKR1000, we are putting affordability at the centre of our strategy. This is about opening the gates wide and inviting millions to be part of a global celebration of cricket, not as spectators from afar, but as active participants in the energy, emotion and magic that only a stadium can offer.'
A total of twenty teams would be participating in the marquee event and all the side have been divided into four groups featuring five teams each.
Group A: India, Pakistan, USA, Netherlands, NamibiaGroup B: Sri Lanka, Australia, Ireland, Zimbabwe, OmanGroup C: England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Nepal, ItalyGroup D: New Zealand, South Africa, Afghanistan, Canada, UAE
