If needed, England seamer Chris Woakes might come onto bat on the final day of the series-concluding fifth Test at the Oval on Monday.
He had injured his shoulder while fielding on the opening day of the final Test and hasn't played a part in the match thereafter.
He was stretchered off with a heavily bandaged shoulder after he tumbled awkwardly while sliding to prevent a boundary.
But as England need 35 more runs to pull off a 374-run chase and have only four wickets in hand, he could bat through pain for the sake of his team.
“You probably saw him in his whites in the dressing room, so, you know, he's all in like the rest of us. It's been that kind of series where guys (like Rishabh Pant) have had to put bodies on the line and hopefully it doesn't get to that.
"He had some throw-downs in here at one point and he's ready if needed,” Joe Root said after stumps on the fourth day.
Root slammed his 39th Test ton and 13th against England but he fell for 105 after tea, turning the match on its head, and stretching the match onto the fifth day.
“It was always going to happen like this wasn't it? I mean, look at the first four games. It's just been that kind of series. It's been amazing to play in and quite fitting that we're going to get that kind of finish tomorrow,” he said.
Rain interrupted the fourth day's action towards the end, with many feeling that stumps was called in haste but Root didn't mind the action starting afresh on a new day.
“There's pros and cons of both, really. Their guys had bowled a lot, there were overs in their legs. You get back out there, get a couple of boundaries away and all of a sudden the game looks very different again," the right hander said.
“But then again, you come back tomorrow, you get another roller, you can rest up and it's a completely new opportunity. I think for both teams there's pros and cons.”
