New Delhi: India's potent bowling attack made a moderate target look daunting in a 48-run win over Australia in the fourth T20I in Carrara, Gold Coast, on Thursday.
Shubman Gill (46 off 39) was India's top scorer as they struggled for momentum on way to 167 for eight but then skittled Australia out for 119 in 18.2 overs.
The win helped India pull 2-1 ahead in the five-match series and with one match are secured of not losing the series, the final match of it is scheduled to be played in Brisbane on November 8.
Australia made heavy weather of what should have been a routine target, losing wickets in a heap to Indian spinners.
Australia skipper Mitchell Marsh top-scored for the hosts with a 24-ball 30. Together with opening partner Matthew Short (25 off 19) put them on a decent track in chase of 168.
But then the home team lost a flurry of wickets in the middle overs and made life difficult for themselves, ultimately unable to recover.
India used six bowlers and all of them were among the wickets, with all-rounder Washington Sundar picking up 3/3 in 1.2 overs.
Earlier, Abhishek Sharma (28 off 21) and Shubman Gill (46 off 39) pulled India to 56 for the opening wicket before their innings faltered.
Seamer Nathan Ellis (3/21 in 4 overs) cleverly used all his variations while leg spinner Adam Zampa claimed 3/45 in his four over.
India's innings didn't get any momentum in the later stages as they lost four wickets for 42 runs in the last five overs.
Axar Patel (21 not out off 11) hit a couple of lusty blows to push the total past 160.
