IND vs ZIM, U19 WC: All-round India hammer Zimbabwe in Super Six clash

T20 World Cup: India, after beating Zimbabwe on Tuesday, have six points and are on top of Group 2 of the Super Six.

New Delhi: Team India continued its unbeaten run in the under-19 World Cup after registering a thumping win over Zimbabwe in a Super Six clash on Tuesday. Young batter Vihaan Malhotra smashed an unbeaten century while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhigyan Kundu scored half-centuries in the first innings which was followed by a disciplined bowling attack as India registered a 204-run victory.

India earlier had emphatically defeated the USA, Bangladesh, and New Zealand in the group stage campaign and continued the aggressive cricket in the first Super Six clash in Bulawayo. After piling up a mammoth 352/8 in the stipulated 50 overs, India managed to bundle out Zimbabwe for just 148 runs in 37.4 overs to complete a dominating victory.

Udhav Mohan and skipper Ayush Mhatre emerged as the pick of the bowlers claiming three wickets each and doing the maximum destruction while RS Ambrish (2/19), Henil Patel (1/25) and Khilan Patel (1/39) also made noteworthy contribution with the ball to push the Zimbabwe batters against the wall.

Leeroy Chiwaula was the only notable contributor for Zimbabwe with 62 runs while rest of the batters failed to show courage in a big chase. Kian Blignaut and Tatenda Chimugoro emerged as the next best scorers with 37 and 29 runs respectively with rest of the batters contributing just single digit scores.

Earlier in the first innings, Vihaan proved to be magnificent with unbeaten 109 runs off just 107 balls while Kundu chipped in with 61 off just 62 balls against a hapless Zimbabwe side. India now have six points and are on top of Group 2 of the Super Six. India carried four points into the Super Six, having beaten New Zealand and Bangladesh, the other teams to have qualified. Since USA didn't qualify, India's points weren't carried over.

Tatenda Chimugoro was the pick of the bowlers for Zimbabwe with three wickets while Panashe Mazai and Simbarashe Mudzengerere claimed two wickets apiece.
