India blew UAE away in their opener in Dubai with a commanding all-round display. After being invited to bat first in the game, UAE got off to a strong start as openers Alishan Sharafu and Muhammad Waseem got the home team off to a good start with a 26-run stand for the first wicket.
The opening stand was broken by Jasprit Bumrah, who cleaned up Sharafu with a ripper. The opener's dismissal triggered a massive collapse as UAE ended up losing their next nine wickets for just 31 runs. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for India as he finished with excellent figures of 4/7 off his 2.1 overs.
All-rounder Shivam Dube also enjoyed a fabulous outing with the ball, picking up a three-wicket haul. Dube opened his account with the dismissal of Asif Khan, before taking the wickets of Dhruv Parashar and Junaid Siddique in the same over to finish with figures of 4/3 off his 2 overs.
India made short work of the 58-run target in their run chase, with Abhishek smashing a 16-ball 30 and Gill remaining not out on 20 off 9 balls. The Men in Blue will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their next group-stage clash in Dubai on Sunday, September 14.
