The Indian women's blind team scripted history by clinching the inaugural edition of the Blind Women's T20 World Cup after beating Nepal in the final. India defeated Nepal by seven wickets in the summit clash in Colombo, Sri Lanka to bag their maiden crown. India remained unbeaten throughout their campaign, capping it off with a memorable title triumph.

The Indian blind women's team reached the final of the inaugural T20 World Cup after defeating Australia by nine wickets in the semi-final. In the final, India won the toss and opted to bowl first. They bowled well to restrict Nepal to 114/5 in 20 overs, before chasing down the target in just 12.1 overs to register a dominant victory.

It was a near-flawless performance from India with the ball as they conceded only a solitary boundary throughout Nepal's innings in the final. Phula Saren was the hero of the final as she produced a terrific all-round performance to help India clinch their maiden title.

Saren was economical with the ball as she gave away only 20 runs off her three overs. She top-scored for India in their run chase with a solid 44 off just 27 balls, which was laced with four boundaries. Her sensational knock, which came at a strike rate of 162.96, made the final a lop-sided affair as India cruised to victory. She was awarded the Player of the Match for her all-round heroics.

While India defeated Australia to reach the final, Nepal got the better of Pakistan in their semi-final clash. India began their campaign in the six-team tournament with a 10-wicket win against Sri Lanka, before beating Australia by 209 runs. They thrashed Nepal by 85 runs in their third game before beating USA and Pakistan in their next two matches to make it to the semi-finals.

India continued their dominant run in the semi-final with a nine-wicket win against Australia. The Women in Blue were the overwhelming favourites in the final against Nepal and lived up to the tag with a thumping victory to clinch a historic maiden crown.

Two World Cups in three weeks for Indian women

The Indian blind women's team's memorable triumph comes three weeks after the Indian women's team defeated South Africa in the final to win their maiden Women's ODI World Cup title. Both wins mark the rise of women's cricket in India, with victories in both mainstream and the visually impaired categories.

Interestingly, Harmanpreet Kaur-led India too defeated Australia in the semi-final before beating South Africa in the final to win the Women's ODI World Cup 2025 title earlier this year. The Women's ODI World Cup triumph by Harmanpreet & Co. was hailed by many as a path-breaking victory, which could serve as inspiration for budding young women's cricketers in India.

The T20 World Cup win by the Indian blind women's team can bring the much-needed recognition for blind cricket in the country and serve as the pathway for the development of blind cricket in India.
