India vs South Africa HIGHLIGHTS, 2nd Test, Day 5: South Africa thrashed India by 408 runs in the 2nd Test in Guwahati on Wednesday to hand the hosts their biggest defeat in terms of runs in Test history. Spinner Simon Harmer ran through the Indian batting line-up with a six-wicket haul to help South Africa bundle out the hosts for a paltry 140 runs in the 549-run chase in their second innings.
Barring Ravindra Jadeja, who scored 54 off 87 balls and Sai Sudharsan, who faced 139 deliveries for his 14, none of the Indian batters managed to show resistance as Harmer wreaked havoc with the ball. South Africa dominated the proceedings on all five days of the Test match and have deservingly won the two-match series 2-0.
India have lost five out of their last seven Test matches at home and have suffered consecutive Test series whitewashes at home against SENA countries. Sai Sudharsan and Ravindra Jadeja take India past the 100-run mark in their second innings. However, it would be the number of overs they play that would matter more than the runs. A huge reprieve for Sai Sudharsan as he survives after getting caught behind due to Marco Jansen overstepping. The left-hander needs to make full use of the opportunity to play a big knock here.
The action gets underway on Day 5 in Guwahati as Kuldeep Yadav and Sai Sudharsan resume the proceedings for India in their second innings. The pair should focus on batting as long as they can without worrying about the scoreboard.
