India vs South Africa HIGHLIGHTS, 2nd ODI: SA beat IND to level series 1-1

IND vs SA HIGHLIGHTS, 2nd ODI: Tons from Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad went in vain as South Africa chased down 359 runs to beat India by 4 wickets in the second match in Raipur on Wednesday. By virtue of this win, South Africa have levelled the series 1-1 with a lone ODI to take place on Saturday in Vishakhapatnam.

Aiden Markram set a perfect base for the visitors with a blistering century and his efforts were taken forward by Matthew Breetzke, Dewald Brevis, and Temba Bavuma who made valuable contributions with the bat with scores of 68, 54 and 46 respectively. Corbin Bosch did the remaining work with 29 runs off 15 balls towards the end.

Prasidh Krishna and Arshdeep Singh claimed two wickets apiece for India while Harshit Rana and Kuldeep Yadav picked one wicket each.

Earlier, Kohli (102, 93 balls) and Gaikwad (105, 83b) stitched a record 195-run partnership for the third wicket as India posted a huge total in second successive match.

Kohli continued his red-hot form and scored his second consecutive century. Marco Jansen was the pick of the South African bowlers with figures of 2 for 63. For the second match in a row, he used short-pitched balls to good effect.

Meanwhile, South Africa also suffered an injury blow as Nandre Burger walked off the field in his seventh over, owing to an ankle niggle. KL Rahul (66 not out) provided a late flourish to the innings with his second successive fifty in this series.

South Africa have chased down a mammoth total to beat India by 4 wickets and 4 balls remaining in the second ODI in Raipur. The three-match series is now level at 1-1 with the third match set to take place on Saturday.

South Africa are cruising at the moment as the game looks very much in their control. They just need 40 runs in six overs which looks very much possible. Matthew Breetzke has departed for 68 in what comes as big relief for the hosts.

Kuldeep Yadav has removed the dangerous Dewald Brevis for 54 runs as India get their fourth wicket and an important one. The hosts have slightly derailed SA's chase but hope still remains. Tony de Zorzi is the new man in.

Breetzke has completed his half-century and Brevis is cruising on 48 as the duo have stitched a 85-run stand. SA need 77 runs in 60 balls as this game seems to be going out of India's hands.

The South Africa side is cruising at the moment with a solid 56-run stand between the two batters. Breetzke is on 45 while Brevis is on 29. All that India need is wickets.

After the third wicket, both the South African batters are taking the innings forward. It is must for India to clinch some wickets and get back in the game otherwise the Proteas look on course for a win, though a tough one.

Harshit Rana dismisses Aiden Markram for 110 runs. Big wicket for the Men in Blue. A slower ball, into the pitch and Markram goes for the pull shot. He hits it flat to long-on, Gaikwad takes a good catch. 10 runs and a wicket in last two overs.

Harshit Rana is back in the attack and concedes five runs in the 28th over. Kuldeep Yadav is also back in the attack and gives away 8 runs in the next over. Markram hits a boundary through deep mid-wicket on the fourth ball.

Kuldeep Yadav concedes just five runs in the 22nd over. Prasidh Krishna gives away nine runs in the next over. Markram hits a boundary on the second ball and smashes another boundary towards third man on the third ball. Ravindra Jadeja is back in the attack and concedes four runs in the 24th over.

India finally found some momentum in the final over. The home side scored 18 runs in the last over. KL Rahul remains unbeaten on 66 off 43. Jadeja not out after a torturous knock of 24 off 27 balls.

India at least 25 runs short, considering the position they were in after 40 overs. The last 10 overs yielded just 74 runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad's maiden century, Virat Kohli's 53rd ton and the record 195-run stand between the duo were the highlights of the innings.

Superb knock by the Maharashtra batter. He completes his maiden century in ODI cricket in 77 balls. He reaches the landmark with a boundary through mid-wicket.

Virat Kohli reaches a well-deserved half-century, continuing his brilliant form from 1st ODI. He’s been in complete control, rarely making a mistake, and rotates the strike smartly to keep India on track.

Ruturaj Gaikwad completed his half-century in 52 balls, smashing four boundaries and one maximum. After getting out cheaply in the first ODI, he's making the most of another chance. Gaikwad raises his bat and is also congratulated by Kohli. 

Kohli and Gaikwad have extended their third-wicket partnership to 75 runs. Kohli is currently batting on 43* off 40 balls, while Gaikwad is batting on 41* off 46 balls. Both batters are playing well with the Men in Blue going at 6.18 runs per over.

Both Kohli and Gaikwad have extended their partnership to 42 runs with the former on 22 off 25 balls while the latter 33 off 31 balls. South Africa bowlers have managed to keep things tight in the last two overs with India going at almost 6 runs per over.

Gaikwad looks in good touch. He has raced to 25 off 19 balls. Kohli, at the other end, is unbeaten on 18 off 19 balls. 30-run partnership from 26 balls between the pair so far. Both batters will look to capitalise on the starts by notching up a big total.

Jaiswal's uncomfortable innings comes to an end. He was looking anxious in the last few balls. He tries to pull a Marco Jansen short ball, but it gets big on him. The top edge goes straight into the hands of Corbin Bosch at square leg.

South Africa strike early and it's the big wicket of Rohit Sharma. After bowling several wayward deliveries that resulted in extras, Burger finally finds his line and length. He surprises Rohit with a good length delivery. De Kock goes up straightaway, but the umpire remained unmoved by his appeal for caught behind. SA review and ultraedge shows a spike.

An eventful start to the match. 14 runs (two boundaries, five wides) from the over. One convincing shot from Jaiswal, but he was troubled by a couple of deliveries from Burger.
