India vs West Indies 1st Test Highlights: India took full control at the end of the second day in the first Test match against West Indies as KL Rahul (100), Dhruv Jurel (125), and Ravindra Jadeja (104*) shined with blistering hundreds. With three centuries and skipper Shubman Gill's half-century, India extended their lead to 286 runs against the struggling visiting side.
Rahul scored his second home Test century but fell immediately after completing the feat. Jurel looked solid from the time he entered into the crease and went on to complete his maiden ton. Whereas Jadeja lit up the momentum with his aggressive batting as he took on the spinners early on in his innings and then completed his 6th century towards day end.
West Indies bowlers had their moments, but in patches, as they failed to put pressure on the hosts for a long time. India will try to post a mammoth score on Day 3 with a gigantic lead and attempt to bowl out the visitors cheaply, once again.
Earlier, West Indies began the second session on day 2 by dismissing centurion KL Rahul in the very first over. But that was the only wicket they managed to take in the rest of the session as Jurel and Jadeja forged a 108-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

Shubman Gill looked solid and completed his fifty, but Chase going round the wicket made him attempt something out of the ordinary, and he perished while playing the reverse sweep. Jurel has walked out to bat and looked composed.

"Day 1 was always about seam movement - it was 0.8 degrees in the first session and 0.4 degrees for the rest of the day. There will be a bit in it for the seamers today as well, but not a lot. There was some spin yesterday as well with Shai Hope's dismissal accounting for 8 degrees of turn. But Day 2 should be a good day to bat and you'll need to show some application as a batter. "Sai Sudharsan looked a bit tentative today. He usually uses his feet really well, especially against left-arm spinners. With left-handed batters, we know that as soon as a left-arm spinner comes in, we try to rotate the strike and wait for the right ball to go after. But I thought Sai Sudharsan was probably feeling a bit of pressure to score big runs and secure that number three position. He just needs to stay calm," said Patel on Star Sports.

India and West Indies have played against each other in 10 bilateral series in the 21st century. The Men in Maroon won the five-match home series in 2002 by 2-1; after that, India won each of the next nine. West Indies haven't beaten India in a Test since those two victories in that 2002 series.
"We are looking to play some hard, grinding cricket. Over the past few years, Test matches in India haven't really gone the full five days. What we are really aiming for is to play solid, demanding cricket. All the Test matches we played in England went pretty deep. What people can expect from us is challenging, hard-fought cricket, and we won't be looking for any easy options. We have the skill set to perform on any kind of wicket or in any situation," Shubman Gill, India captain.
Both sides have played 100 matches against each other in Test cricket. Out of these 100 games, India have won 23, and the West Indies have emerged victorious in 30 games, while 47 matches ended in a draw.
