India vs West Indies Highlights, 2nd Test: India’s spinners ran through the West Indies batting lineup in the third session with Ravindra Jadeja claiming three wickets and Kuldeep Yadav adding another. The hosts took firm control, still leading by 378 runs as the visitors struggled to cope with the turn and bounce.

Earlier, India declared their first innings at 518/5v against West Indies on day two of the second Test in New Delhi on Saturday. In reply, the visitors lost one wicket as Sudharsan took a brilliant catch in Jadeja's over to remove Campbell on 10 runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (175) and skipper Shubman Gill (129) scored centuries, while Sai Sudharsan (87) scored a fifty. For the West Indies, left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican picked up three wickets.

Earlier, resuming at an overnight score of 318/2, the Men in Blue scored 109 runs in the opening session while losing the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal (175) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (43).

Jaiswal and Gill (75*) were involved in a mix-up early on Day 2 that led to the dismissal of Jaiswal in the second over of the day, while Reddy became left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican's third victim. Gill inched closer to his 10th century, and Dhruv Jurel was unbeaten on seven runs in the middle when lunch was taken.

 Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed his seventh Test hundred as the Men in Blue dominated the opening day of the second match against the West Indies, reaching 318/2 at stumps here on Friday.

Leading the two-match series 1-0, India opted to bat after winning the toss, and the day was dominated by Jaiswal, who was unbeaten on 173 off 253 balls when the stumps were drawn at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Having received the national selectors' and team management's backing for the crucial No. 3 position, Sai Sudharsan responded with a fine 87 off 165 balls, while KL Rahul missed out on a big score after getting out for 38.

At the end of play, skipper Shubman Gill was giving Jaiswal company on 20. Left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican picked up both the wickets for the West Indies, who endured another difficult day after the crushing defeat in the series opener in Ahmedabad.

Washington Sundar finishes the day with the final over. Hope defends the first three balls before nudging one to mid-off for a single. Imlach goes for a daring sweep and manages four off the last delivery.

"It looks like a 3rd/4th day pitch. Because of the wear and tear, it's a very dry surface, but I still think it will be good for batting. The spinners have a chance of using their conditions to their advantage, and that is something that I'd like to see the West Indian spinners do. Try to use the rough areas as their guide to pitch the ball into those areas, to bring those variabilities of bounce. The other end has more grass. Naturally, you would think that captains will operate their pace bowlers because the grass layer is more intense. The surface has a couple of bare spots, and bowlers could probably get variability in terms of pace, and maybe bounce too. So, there's enough in that pitch to keep bowlers interested," says Daren Ganga on-air.

In a 193-run partnership for the second wicket with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sudharsan was able to bat freely and express himself better.

"It's fascinating and so thrilling to watch him from the other end. He plays a lot of exciting shots. He's giving me more awareness of what kind of shots to be played," Sudharsan said.

Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his sensational form by crossing the 3,000-run mark in international cricket across formats on Friday. In just 50 international matches, the 23-year-old has smashed 3,156 runs at an average of 47.81, including eight hundreds and 17 fifties, with a career-best 214.

"It was a good contribution, good partnership between me and Jaiswal. Hopefully, we'll have longer partnerships and get a big score. Definitely, I wasn't thinking about getting runs, so I was a bit more free, expressed myself, took time rather than rushing things. I didn't try to make things happen. Grateful for whatever I've done, but there's always something in the mind to make a lot more, happy with the runs, but would want to make more," said Sudharsan after the match.

The last time India lost a Test match in Delhi was in 1987 against West Indies (by 5 wickets). Since then, the Men in Blue have won 11 Tests and drawn two at the venue.

"If there would be an opportunity, definitely we would be looking to play him (Prasidh Krishna). As of now, we want to play our strongest XI. Because WTC is something you have to win almost 70 per cent of your matches to be able to secure a spot in the finals. So, depending on where we are on the table... These are still early stages. So, we want to play the best XI and we want to play the best team that is available for us," Shubman Gill, India skipper.

Both teams have played 101 matches against each other in Test cricket. Out of these 101 games, India have won 24, and the West Indies have emerged victorious in 30 games, while 47 matches ended in a draw.
