New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued an ultimatum to the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) to set its house in order by holding the elections. The Indian cricket board has additionally said that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 matches will only be allowed in Jaipur if the elections are held well on time.
IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal, on the sidelines of the IPL 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi revealed to selected media houses that they had written in detail to the RCA regarding the elections but till now, they have not set their governance right. He further said that it will only be possible for the IPL governing council to take the cash-rich league to the city when they have an elected body in place.
At last he said that only when the RCA is able to conduct the elections fairly, only then would they be satisfied to take the IPL to the Jaipur venue. Meanwhile for the last two years, the RCA has been administered by an ad hoc committee appointed by the state government and headed by Deen Dayal Kumawat.
Jaipur has been home to the Rajasthan Royals IPL franchise for the last 18 years and it is also being learnt that the Royals management has also explored the option of holding its matches in Pune also carrying out a recce in the city, as per a report in Cricbuzz.
Ad hoc committee head Kumawat said that the RCA has had no communication from the Indian cricket board but it has been in touch with the Royals management. He further said that if the BCCI has issues with the RCA, then it will take them up with state government and try to resolve them all.
