Kohli-Rohit contracts, payments for women in domestic cricket to be discussed at BCCI AGM

New Delhi: A revision of contracts for Indian star players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, along with those of women players in domestic cricket would be discussed during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India's apex council on December 22.

The much-anticipated 31st AGM of the apex council is set to be held online and decisions on the contracts of the veteran players are expected to be taken. Both Rohit and Kohli have retired from the Tests and T20Is over the past year and now feature in only the ODI leg of cricket.

As per a report in news agency PTI, it is being learnt that India's Test and ODI skipper Shubman Gill could be placed in the A-plus category which should also include all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja was appointed as the vice-captain for the last Test assignment and he category is also set to feature premium pacer Jasprit Bumrah.

Among all the important matters, a revision in payments for umpires and match referees, along with an update on board's digital properties is also set to be discussed at the BCCI AGM. Meanwhile, this would be the first AGM of the apex council since changes among the board officials with Mithun Manhas becoming the board’s president and Raghuram Bhatt named treasurer in September, while Devajit Saikia and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia were appointed as secretary and joint secretary. The board’s last elections also saw Saurashtra Cricket Association’s president Jaydev Shah coming on board as a councilor.

Meanwhile, both the players have been in a fantastic form in the ODI format which they exhibited in the recently-concluded ODI series at home against South Africa. Rohit and Kohli shined in the 50-over matches against Proteas playing a pivotal role in the third and final match which powered India to a series-clinching victory.
