New Delhi: Ahead of the white-ball series against India, Kiwi batter Daryl Mitchell has asserted that they are more focused on the assignments against the Men in Blue rather than the T20 World Cup. India and New Zealand lock horns in the white-ball series comprising three ODI matches and five T20I games.

The series will commence in Vadodara with the first ODI of the series scheduled for January 9, Sunday. The three 50-over games will be followed by five T20I matches, which serves as a build-up for both the teams ahead of the showpiece event starting on February 7. Considering India one of the toughest sides in the world, Mitchell said that it will be quite challenging to face the Men in Blue in the white-ball series.

Mitchell further said that they will look at the T20 World Cup in a month's time as the current worry for them is the ODI series against India. The New Zealander further heaped praise on the Indian bowlers saying that they have  one of the best pace attack in the world which they would have to be wary of.

'We'll look at the T20 World Cup in a month's time. For now we'll worry about playing an ODI series against India, and they've got some pretty good bowlers themselves with the likes of Bumrah and Chakravarthy,' Mitchell told the media.

'A really key value for us as the New Zealand credit team is being where out feet are and that means being in the present and what the challenge is at that moment. That's the exciting thing is we got three ODIs against the world-class Indian team in Indian conditions in front of full crowds. So we'll be where our feet are. We'll control the now and we'll look forward to the World Cup in a month,' he added.

Notably, both Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy are not part of the ODI series but will feature in the T20I games. Mitchell said he will look to draw from experience of playing in India when it comes to handling spinners.
