Former Australian pacer Glenn McGrath is considered to be one of the greatest bowlers cricket has ever witnessed. While he was one of greatest-ever Australia bowlers but his prowess eventually made him one of deadliest around the globe. McGrath was handed his Test debut cap in 1993 November and a month later in December, he became the part of the Australian men's ODI team. McGrath's international career in cricket spanned 14 years (1993-2007) during which he scripted numerous records.

The tall seamer was part of the Australian cricket team that won three World Cup trophies in a row in 1999, 2003 and 2007. The fast bowler played a pivotal role in Australia's campaign in the 2007 World Cup and also in the 2003 final where he took the winning wicket. McGrath, who was a fast-medium bowler, was known for his accurate line and length which prevented batters from scoring runs against him.

Towards the later part of his career, he also played in the Indian Premier League for the Delhi Capitals franchise and proved to be one of the most economical bowlers in the maiden edition of the cash-rich league. In the 50-over format, he played more than 250 matches and claimed a record 381 wickets. In Test, he took his overall tally to 563 wickets. The biggest stage of the ODI cricket - the World Cup, was a favourite hunting ground for McGrath where he created numerous records.

Glenn McGrath represented Australia in four World Cups - from 1996 to 2007 and finished as the highest wicket taker in the history of the competition. In a total of 39 matches he played across the four editions, the Australia bowler picked 71 wickets to lead the elusive list and holds the record for the most wickets till now. McGrath had a fantastic economy rate of 3.96 and also picked two five-wicket hauls in the marquee event. He also holds the record of bowling most maiden overs (42) in the history of the competition.

One of the most formidable bowlers in the World Cup history, 2003 edition of the event proved to be his best one as he registered the best figures in a World Cup match. McGrath claimed 7 wickets for just 15 runs against Namibia in one of the league stage matches. He was the Man of the Tournament in the 2007 World Cup, his last, with 26 wickets to his name. After McGrath, only one Australia bowler Mitchell Starc has managed to enter the top-10 list of the bowlers with most wickets in ODI World Cup. Starc has 65 wickets to his name.
