In a career spanning 14 years, former Australian great Glenn McGrath amazed the cricketing world with his terrific bowling prowess. Best known for his accuracy, McGrath was considered to be the most accurate pace bowlers in world cricket. While the Aussie quick was a fast-medium bowler not yielding much pace between the 22 yards, yet he produced all the magic with just his accuracy and swing.

A master with the ball in the red-ball cricket, McGrath created a niche with his match-winning performances along with his ability and patience, which is a key in Test cricket. In his illustrious career, the Australian veteran scripted numerous records across all the formats and proved himself as a player for the crucial occasions. Out of all, he was the most effective when it came to the Test format and went on to become of the leading wicket-takers in the format.

In the decorated list of bowlers with most wickets in the longest format of the game, Glenn McGrath occupied the sixth position. McGrath (563 wickets) was among very few bowlers to have crossed the 500-wicket mark in the format, a task achieved by just the greatest in the game. The Australia pacer played a total of 124 matches in the Test format registering a staggering 29 five-wicket hauls, that became a testament of his excellence.

With best bowling figures of 8/24, McGrath ruled the cricketing world for more than a decade becoming an inspirations for millions. In the 2005 Ashes series, which was one of his most productive tournaments, McGrath scripted the history of becoming only the fourth bowler in world cricket to claim 500 wickets at Lord's. His effective 5-wicket spell led in England suffering a batting collapse and then he eventually took 4 more wickets in the second innings to help the Aussies towards a convincing victory.

McGrath however did not have the best of the outings in the 2005 Ashes series as after his pivotal role in a Test match, he went on to miss the entire series but made a strong comeback in the 2007 Ashes playing a crucial role in Australia series triumph over England. Among some of other achievements in the format was his remarkable performance in the Sydney Test match against India where he took 10 wickets in a single match.

Additionally, he claimed two five-wicket hauls in both the innings of a Test match against the West Indies in 1999 and India in 2000. McGrath's record in Tests was most successful against England as the pacer claimed 87 wickets of his total against the side.
