Rohit Sharma received a grand reception at the Mumbai airport as he returned home after enjoying an impressive outing for Team India in the recently concluded ODI series in Australia. Rohit bagged the Player of the Series award in his final ODI series Down Under after amassing 202 runs in two matches at an average of 101.

Amid questions over his form and future following his much-awaited return to international cricket after a seven-month break, Rohit got off to a shaky start as he flopped in the first ODI. The Hitman was dismissed cheaply on 8 runs in the first ODI in Perth, but bounced back with a half-century and a century in the next two matches, respectively, to end the series on a high.

Rohit slammed a gritty 73 in the 2nd ODI in Adelaide after an intense battle against the Australian pacers with the new ball. He followed it up with a stellar unbeaten 121-run knock in the third and final ODI to help India chase down the target of 237 runs comfortably and secure a consolation victory to end the three-match series 2-1.

In a video shared by Star Sports on social media, Rohit was seen getting welcomed with chants of 'Mumbaicha Raja' as he landed at the Mumbai airport on Monday. A large number of fans gathered outside the airport to get a glimpse of the Team India star, who posed for pictures with the fans and signed autographs before leaving.

Rohit Sharma shut his critics in style

A lot was said about Rohit's future in ODIs for India after he was sacked from captaincy ahead of the recently concluded three-match series against Australia. However, the Hitman shut his critics in style with a strong show Down Under, proving that he still has enough fuel left in the tank to continue playing for India in the fifty-over format.

Rohit ditched his usual aggressive style at the top for a more measured and calculated approach to play two fantastic knocks after his disastrous start in the series. In what was his final ODI series Down Under, Rohit signed off with a Player of the Series award after finishing as the highest run-getter with 202 runs from 3 games.

The Hitman had worked hard on his fitness, shedding a lot of weight ahead of his comeback for India, and it paid off as he enjoyed a fruitful outing in Australia. He will now look to rejuvenate and continue training at home before returning to action for India in the ODI series against South Africa next month.
