No training for India in Dubai as Suryakumar & Co. to depart just four days ahead of Asia Cup - Report

The 15-member squad for the next month's tournament was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at the headquarters in Mumbai on Tuesday.

New Delhi: With the Asia Cup beginning on September 9 in the UAE, Team India is expected to depart for Dubai just four to five days ahead of the marquee event. According to a report published in News24, Suryakumar Yadav and Co. will not get any training in Dubai ahead of the highly anticipated continental showpiece event.

The 15-member squad for the next month's tournament was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at the headquarters in Mumbai on Tuesday. Suryakumar would lead the Men in Blue in the event while Shubman Gill has been named his deputy among many big names missing from the event.

The report further mentions that India will depart on September 4 or 5 and the entire team selected seems to be match ready as understood by the BCCI. The Indian cricket board believes that all the stars selected to the 8-nation event are have fabulous performances under their belt recently and do not require any match practice ahead of the Asia Cup.

India's last T20I series in January

India last played a T20I series against England in January this year and followed it up with players participating in different franchises in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 for almost two months. With the bunch of players travelling to UAE already fit and fine, they will straight away open their campaign against hosts UAE on September 10.

Following the series opener, they lock horns with arch-rivals Pakistan on September 14 while follow it up with their last league game on September 19 against Oman. There has been a lot of criticism for the India-Pakistan game due to the recent political differences between both the nations but it seems that the game will go ahead.

Standby players: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar, Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel
