Saim Ayub stared with bat and ball as Pakistan defeated West Indies by 13 runs in the third T20I to claim the series 2-1 in Lauderhill.
Ayub's 66 off 49 balls in a 138-run opening partnership with Sahibzada Farhan (74) ensured Pakistan post a healthy 189/4, which they defended by restricting West Indies to 176/6.
Pakistan's opening stand continued till the 17th over, when Farhan's knock ended after 53 balls. He was dismissed when he hit a low full-toss from Shamar Joseph (1-57) into the hands of Shai Hope at long-off.
Ayub batted on till the last ball of the penultimate over, departing after hitting Jason Holder (1-34) to Sherfane Rutherford in the covers.
In reply, West Indies had bolted to 33-0 in two overs, after which Haris Rauf sent back Jewel Andrew (24 from 15 deliveries) in the fifth over, caught by Hasan Ali with the score at 44.
Alick Athanaze then carried the mantle of run-scoring, with a 40-ball 60, forcing 30-run partnerships with Hope (7) and 36 with Rutherford.
But his dismissal after mistiming Ayub to be caught at thirdman meant West Indies slipped to 110/3 in the 13th over. Rutherford kept Windies' hopes intact with 51 from 35 balls but was out in the last over.
Pakistan had won the first game of the series by 14 runs, followed by West Indies' two-wicket victory. The two teams will now engage in three 50-over matches in the Caribbean.
"It was a complete team performance, throughout the series we were very good. We just want to keep improving and keep moving forward. For me, it doesn't matter win or lose, yeah winning is very important but as long as keep improving and keep doing the right things, that's what matters," Pakistan skipper Salman Agha said.
"If we do that more often we'll win most of the games. It was a different pitch, it was slightly better. The way our spinners bowled in the middle, Sufiyan Muqeem was outstanding throughout the series and he brought us back into the game today.
"The way Haris bowled his last two overs and even in the powerplay, Faheem and Hasan Ali showed his character bowling the last over, it's amazing for a captain to see that."
