RCB's IPL 2026 home games set to move out of Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy stadium

Amid the ongoing suspension of the iconic M. Chinnaswamy stadium, Pune has offered to host the home games for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing suspension of the iconic M. Chinnaswamy stadium, Pune has offered to host the home games for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The iconic Bengaluru stadium was suspended post the RCB IPL 2025 triumph celebrations which led to deaths of several people, leaving many others injured.

Post the tragic incident on June 4, the stadium was deemed unfit due to lack of capacity and improper infrastructure. This comes as a bog blow for the RCB team and the scores of fans as the champion side will have to begin their title defense away from their home ground.

As per a report in Times of India, the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) stadium in Gahunje is in the line to be RCB's home ground until the suspension is lifted. Although this decision is yet not confirmed but as told by MCA secretary Kamlesh Pisal to the publication, the possibility for the change in home venue seems possible.

MCA offers own stadium for RCB

The report further mentions the acknowledgement of the MCA as they have identified the problem in Karnataka because of the stampeded that happened there. Since they were looking out for a stadium so the MCA offered their own stadium. The secretary added that preliminary discussion have been held and there are a couple of technical things which need to be sorted out. If the things fall in place, then Pune will host the home matches for RCB.

After RCB beat Punjab in the final of IPL 2025 to bag the title for the maiden time after 17 years of drought, what followed was just tragedy. The entire RCB contingent, which headed for celebrations after the maiden triumph, were caught in then center of a controversy. As scores of fans gathered outside the iconic stadium to catch a glimpse of their stars, the police failed to control the crowd which led to a severe devastation.
