New Delhi: Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman is set to play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026) after being omitted from the Kolkata Knight Riders' IPL 2026 squad. The move comes at a time when his release from the IPL sparked broader discussions among cricket boards and tournament organisers.

The fast bowler was recently released by KKR after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) directed the franchise to release Mustafizur. The Kolkata-based franchise had signed Mustafizur for Rs 9.20 crore at the IPL mini-auction after an intense bidding war.

ICC rejects Bangladesh’s request to shift T20 World Cup 2026 matches from India

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has rejected the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) request to shift their T20 World Cup 2026 matches from India to Sri Lanka, according to an ESPNcricinfo report.

During a virtual call on Tuesday, the ICC informed BCB that its request to change the venue had been rejected. According to reports, the ICC has told the BCB that they need to play their T20 World Cup matches in India or risk forfeiting points. The BCB, however, has denied all the claims.

Bangladesh will start their T20 World Cup campaign on February 7. They are placed in Group C along with England, Nepal, the West Indies, and debutants Italy. Their opening match of the tournament will be against two-time champions West Indies on February 7 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Bangladesh will then take on debutants Italy at the same venue on February 9. They will be up against England on February 14, which will also be played in Kolkata, and their last group match is against Nepal on February 17 in Mumbai.
