New Delhi: After calling it quits from the longest format this year, former skipper Rohit Sharma was seen at the Oval witnessing the third day of the India vs England fifth and final Test match. Rohit, who has been holidaying in London with his family, attended his first Test match after announcing his retirement.
Ahead of the beginning of a crucial day in the game, Rohit was seen entering the packed stadium amid a loud cheer from the fans present outside. While some even tried to click selfies with the star player, other watched him entering the stadium. Rohit even showed his mobile phone to the security personnel standing outside before making his entry.
To ensure support to the Indian cricket team in the series-decider, Rohit decided to watch the game from the stadium. The 38-year-old stepped away from the whites after the conclusion of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia earlier in 2025. Shubman Gill was chosen as the skipper to replace Rohit. Even after retiring, Rohit remains active in the ODIs, leading India to the Champions Trophy victory. The stalwart has retired from the T20s after the World Cup in 2024.
Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Akash Deep helped India stretch their lead past 150 runs in the first session of the third day. Akash Deep was out at the stroke of lunch after a sensational half-century while skipper Gill also lost his wicket as England managed to take two scalps after India's strong start.
