Rohit Sharma set to play first two matches in Vijay Hazare Trophy for Mumbai

Former India captain Rohit Sharma has been included in the Mumbai's Vijay Hazare Trophy squad, which is set to begin on December 24.

New Delhi: Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has announced the squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 on Friday, December 19. Former India skipper Rohit Sharma has been included in the Mumbai team and is set to play two games of the upcoming white-ball domestic tournament.

All-rounder Shardul Thakur will lead the team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal have not been included in the team for the upcoming 50-over tournament.

The group stage of the Vijay Hazare Trophy will be played from December 24 to January 8, 2026. Mumbai have been placed in Elite Group C, alongside Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Himachal, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Goa, and will play their matches in Jaipur.

Virat Kohli to feature for Delhi

Earlier, the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) has also announced their squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma and Navdeep Saini have confirmed their availability and will be part of the team.

Rishabh Pant has been named captain of the side, while Ayush Badoni has been appointed as vice-captain of the team. Senior fast bowlers Ishant Sharma and Navdeep Saini are also included. 

Kohli’s presence significantly strengthens the batting line-up and brings invaluable leadership and experience to the dressing room. Fast bowler Harshit Rana will join the team once he becomes available.

Delhi squad: Rishabh Pant (C) Ayush Badoni V.C., Virat Kohli, Ishant Sharma, Navdeep Saini, Harshit Rana, Arpit Rana, Yash Dhull, Sarthak Ranjan, Priyansh Arya, Tejasvi Singh (WK), Nitish Rana, Hritik Shokeen, Harsh Tyagi, Simarjeet Singh, Prince Yadav, Divij Mehra, Ayush Doseja, Vaibhav Kandpal, Rohan Rana, Anuj Rawat.
