The ICC T20 World Cup began in 2007, and since then, the tournament has become an important part of international cricket. Just like the ODI World Cup, the T20 World Cup also determines a champion after several teams compete against each other. It was in the T20 format that the rule of ending a tied match was changed for the first time, and the concept of a tie-breaker was introduced. Initially, this was done through a ‘bowl-out’, which was later replaced by the ‘Super Over’. To obtain a result in any T20 World Cup match, at least 5 overs per side must be played. If this is not possible, the match is declared abandoned and the points are shared between both teams. In the final, if rain or any other reason prevents the match from being completed on the scheduled day or even on the reserve day, both teams are declared joint champions.
