Shafali Verma, Renuka Singh rise; Jemimah Rodrigues slips in latest ICC women's T20I rankings

New Delhi: Indian opener Shafali Verma and Renuka Singh Thakur have risen in the latest ICC women's T20I rankings list released on Wednesday. While Shafali has climbed to the sixth place following a string of half-centuries in the ongoing series against Sri Lanka, Renuka Singh Thakur has entered in the top-10 list of women's bowlers.

Shafali moved up four spots after notching up scores of 69 not out in the second T20I against the island nation which was followed by unbeaten knocks of 79 each in the third and fourth match of the series. Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, who is on the cusp of breaking Shubman Gill's 2025 runs tally milestone in the fifth and final match of the series against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, retained third position in the rankings.

Mandhana, who was undergoing a lean phase with the bat, returned to form in the fourth T20I against Sri Lanka, striking a flamboyant 80-run knock to maintain her position. Meanwhile, Jemimah Rodrigues, who aided in India's ODI World Cup winning campaign, has unfortunately slipped one place to the 10th spot.

Deepti Sharma continues to be top-ranked bowler

Seasoned Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma continues her supreme reign at the top of the bowlers' list with Renuka joining her in the top-10. On the other hand, India's left-arm spinners Shree Charani and Vaishnavi Sharma have also made progress in the latest rankings released on December 30. They played a pivotal role in taking a 4-0 lead for India in the home T20I series against the Lankan.

Charani has moved up 17 places to 52nd in the bowling rankings while Vaishnavi has galloped 390 places to reach 124th position in her first international series as the 50-over world champions weigh their options in preparation for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 to be held in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5.
