New Delhi: New Zealand defeated the West Indies by five wickets in the second ODI at McLean Park in Napier on Wednesday, November 11. The hosts sealed the ODI series 2-0 after chasing down the challenging total. The match was reduced to 34 overs per team, and the Blackcaps crossed the winning line with three balls to spare.

Chasing the 248-run target, New Zealand got off to a brilliant start as Conway and Rachin forged a 106-run partnership for the opening wicket. Both openers started steadily before changing gears. Rachin completed his fifty with a maximum over deep-midwicket off Roston Chase, while Conway reached the 50-run mark with a single.

Shai Hope looked solid at one end, but wickets kept falling regularly at the other end. The West Indies skipper batted well and kept hitting boundaries at regular intervals. He scored an unbeaten 109 runs off 69 balls with the help of 13 boundaries off four maximums. Hope equalled Brian Lara's tally of 19 ODI centuries. The West Indies skipper also crossed the 6000 ODI-run mark during the innings, becoming the second-fastest West Indian to complete the milestone.
