New Delhi: Jharkhand skipper Ishan Kishan notched up a stunning hundred in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT 2025) final against Haryana at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on December 19.
The wicketkeeper batter completed his sixth T20 century with a one-handed six in just 45 balls. He smacked six boundaries and 10 maximums in his explosive knock. Kishan stitched a 177-run partnership with Kumar Kushagra for the second wicket.
This was his second ton of the ongoing tournament, after his 50-ball unbeaten 113 runs against Tripura last month. He was eventually dismissed by Sumit Kumar on 101 with a yorker delivery. Kishan also became only the second batter to score a hundred in the SMAT final.
Kishan also equalled Abhishek Sharma’s record for most hundreds in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy history by scoring his fifth ton in the tournament. The out-of-favour India wicketkeeper-batter has been in stunning form in the ongoing domestic T20 tournament and leads the run-scoring list with 517 runs in 10 innings at a strike-rate 197.32, including two hundreds and two half-centuries.
After being invited to bat first, Jharkhand got off to a disappointing start as Anshul Kamboj removed Virat Singh for 2 runs with a back-of-length delivery. Kishan then steadied the innings with Kushagra before changing gears and forging a 177-run partnership for the second wicket.
Kishan was removed by Sumit for 101 runs, while Kushagra was dismissed by Samant Jakhar for 81 runs. After their dismissal, Anukul Roy and Robin Minz continued the momentum by playing attacking shots against Haryana bowlers.
They stitched an unbeaten 75-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Anukul scored 40 runs off 20 balls with the help of three boundaries and two maximums at a strike rate of 200, while Robin Minz amassed 32 runs off 14 balls, smacking three maximums. The duo added 75 runs in the last 30 deliveries as Jharkhand posted 262/3 in 20 overs, which is the highest ever total in a SMAT final.
