New Delhi: Indian opener Smriti Mandhana has cemented her status as the No.1 batter in women’s ODI cricket. She scored a spectacular 109 against New Zealand and an unbeaten 34 against Bangladesh in her last two fixtures, achieving a career-best rating while enjoying a stellar World Cup campaign on home soil.
The 29-year-old batter has moved to a rating of 828 and is almost 100 points clear of second spot holder Australia's Ash Gardner, who has jumped six spots after her century against England.
Mandhana’s dream run continues, with the ICC also naming her the Women’s Player of the Month for September 2025 for her match-winning performances in the ODI series against Australia before the World Cup.
Other changes in the standings include South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has entered the top three, while England's Amy Jones broke into the top 10. Annabel Sutherland made the biggest jump of those in the top 40, climbing 16 places to finish at 16th with a 613 rating.
India’s opener Pratika Rawal, who suffered an injury ruling her out of the remainder of the World Cup, moved into the top 30. The rankings also reflect the dominance of spin throughout the tournament, with several slow bowlers rising sharply in the standings.
England’s Sophie Ecclestone continues to hold the top spot among bowlers with a rating of 747. However, Australian leg-spinner Alana King is closing in fast after her brilliant seven-wicket haul against South Africa.
Pakistan's Nashra Sandhu is tied for 10th with South Africa's Nonkululeko Mlaba (610) while fast bowlers Marizanne Kapp and Sutherland both climbed one place each to fourth and seventh, respectively. Another left-arm orthodox bowler, Linsey Smith, was the biggest mover overall, making a jump of 24 spots to 36th with a rating of 444.
In the all-rounders' list, Gardner's heroics have strengthened her hold at No.1 with a rating of 503. She now has a new challenger behind her in Kapp, who overtook West Indies captain Hayley Matthews to claim the No.2 position with 422 points. Sutherland's consistent form pushed her to the fourth while her teammate King has entered the top 10, moving up three places to 262.
Overall, Mandhana’s form and consistency have made her the standout performer of the year so far. With India pushing for World Cup glory at home, her dominance at the top of the ODI rankings underlines her growing stature as one of the most complete batters in women’s cricket.
