Smriti Mandhana smashes 14th ODI hundred as records galore for India women during women's World Cup match against New Zealand

Smriti Mandhana climbed to the second spot overtaking Suzie Bates (13 ODI tons) in the list of the most hundreds hit by women in ODI cricket.

New Delhi: It was an exuberant batting display from star player Smriti Mandhana as she smashed her 14th ODI century in the women's World Cup match against New Zealand on Thursday. Mandhana climbed to the second spot overtaking Suzie Bates (13 ODI tons) in the list of the most hundreds hit by women in ODI cricket.

After India were put into bat by the Kiwi women is the most crucial fixture which is virtually a quarterfinal, Mandhana along with opening partner Pratika Rawal took the bowlers to the  cleaners. Rawal, who scored her maiden ODI century in the women's World Cup and second overall, played with the same flamboyance as displayed by Mandhana.

India piled up 329/2 in 48 overs in the first innings before rain stopped play in Navi Mumbai. Apart from Mandhana (109 off 95) and Rawal, Jemimah Rodrigues was batting on unbeaten 60 with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (10 not out) at the other end for support. Enroute the superlative first innings display, India women registered multiple records in ODIs during the game.

Smriti and Pratika added 176 runs for the first wicket, breaking the record of 175 set by Thirush Kamini and Punam Raut during the match against West Indies in the 2013 edition at the Brabourne Stadium. The batters, earlier in the tournament, added 155 runs against Australia in Visakhapatnam.

Most hundreds in a calendar year

This was Smiriti Mandhana's fifth ODI century in the 2025 calendar year as she surpassed her own best record of hitting four hundreds in 2024. Tazmin Brits from South Africa has as many hundreds (5) in 2025.

Most centuries in Women’s ODIs

This was Mandhana's 14th career ODI century as she overtook Bates (13 tons) with another sensational hundred. Meg Lanning holds the top spot in the elite chart with 15 hundreds to her name. Tammy Beaumont (12 centuries) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (10 centuries) are the other notable names in the list.
