New Delhi: Team India is gearing up for the forthcoming Asia Cup 2025 which is scheduled to begin on September 9 in the UAE. Indian team, which reached Dubai couple of days back and has started practicing for the continental tournament, play their first match against hosts UAE on September 10. Days ahead of the start, the official jersey for the Men in Blue was unveiled on Saturday.
India would participate in the Asia Cup without a jersey sponsor as flamboyant batter Shivam Dube's picture with the sponsor-less jersey went viral on social media on September 6. This happened after numerous clips and pictures from India's training session in Dubai also went viral earlier in the day where the members were seen wearing jerseys without a sponsor on it.
The jersey only features INDIA written across the chest and with the BCCI logo on one side and the Asia Cup 2025 logo on the other side.
In the last almost two decades, this has been a rare sight to watch as sponsors have always been an integral part of Team India's jerseys and have been highlighted prominently on all the jerseys across formats.
This development comes after India ended the ties with jersey sponsor Dream 11 earlier in the month. Dream 11 was associated with India for little over two years and the split happened after the new Online Gaming Bill 2025 came into place. As per the bill, the association was ended as they needed to comply with the new set of rules which banned all the fantasy sporting platforms.
The Indian cricket board earlier in the week has invited fresh applications for a new lead jersey sponsor for the Indian cricket team. As per media reports, car manufacture Toyota has expressed its interest in the same but nothing is official as of now.
