New Delhi: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued his remarkable run with the bat as he smashed a sensational century in the opening game of the Under-19 Asia Cup against the UAE on Friday at the ICC Academy Ground, Dubai. The 14-year-old completed the milestone in just 56 balls to give India a brilliant start after the UAE skipper had invited the Boys in Blue to bat first.
Sooryavanshi hit nine fours and five sixes to reach the third-fastest Youth ODI century and continued his rich form in 2025. After beginning cautiously, the teen sensation changed gears and completed his half-century off 30 balls, hitting a maximum against Ahmed Khudadad. He got a lifeline on 85, getting dropped at long-off off the bowling of Uddish Suri. He made the most of the reprieve and brought up his century in 56 balls.
The Bihar batter also holds the record for the fastest century in Youth ODI, scored against England in just 52 balls. Pakistan's Kamran Ghulam is in second spot with a 53-ball ton.
UAE bowlers were at the receiving end too in November, when Sooryavanshi scored a fiery 42-ball 144 against the Gulf side in the Asia Cup Rising Stars. He has now scored centuries against the UAE in both T20 and One-Day formats.
It was Sooryavanshi's second List A hundred, following his superb knock against England earlier this year. Remarkably, this was the sixth century for Suryavanshi in 2025 across formats.
He recently scored his maiden century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Maharashtra, completing the hundred off just 57 balls. His brutal knock comprised seven sixes and as many fours.
Vaibhav came out to open with skipper Ayush Mhatre (4), who was dismissed in the third over. Not only did he steady the ship for India, but he also took them to a commanding position with a century stand with Aaron Gerard (69).
Sooryavanshi's remarkable innings ended in the 33rd over when he was dismissed by Uddish Suri for 171 (95 balls). His innings was studded with nine fours and 14 sixes - a Youth ODI world record for the most maximums in an innings.
