New Delhi: Star Indian batter Virat Kohli is set for return in the domestic circuit with the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025. The domestic tournament begins on December 24 and Delhi, which is the home team of Kohli, will begin their proceedings against Andhra on the same day.
On Thursday, December 11, Kohli was named in the Delhi probables list which made it clear that the Indian superstar is set to participate in the domestic competition after the advice of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Though Kohli will not play all the matches for Delhi but he is set to participate in few ahead of the New Zealand ODI which begins on January 11.
As per multiple media reports, Kohli along with Rishabh Pant will be joining the Delhi team ahead of the Vijay Hazare trophy as the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) announced the list of the probable players for the domestic competition. While Kohli would be associated for just a few matches, Pant is expected to provide his experience and add depth to the batting order for a longer period of time.
After playing their first Elite Group D game against Andhra, Delhi will lock horns against Gujarat at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, which serves as the home ground for Kohli's IPL team the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Although the venue details are still not confirmed but it is expected that the iconic stadium would be available for playing. The remaining games of Delhi would also be played on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
Kohli has been in a fabulous touch recently after he showcased his magic in the recently-concluded ODI series against South Africa. Before the series, Kohli along with his veteran partner Rohit Sharma, delivered outstanding contribution in the ODI series against Australia as well. They will next be seen in the ODIs against the Kiwis which begin on January 11.
