Women's Premier League 2026 schedule and venues likely to be finalised a day before WPL auction

The final schedule and the venues of the upcoming Women's Premier League (WPL)2026 is likely to be finalised by the end of this month. After India's maiden ODI World Cup triumph earlier this month, the excitement has increased for the upcoming season of the WPL, where top women's cricketers from around the world will be seen in action.

As per a report in PTI, the venues and the schedule for WPL 2026 is likely to be finalised a day before the auction in New Delhi on November 27. The WPL governing council will meet on November 26, a day before the auction, to finalise the details for the new season.

"We will have a meeting on November 26 to finalise the venues and fixtures for the next edition of WPL," an official was quoted as saying by PTI

All five WPL franchises recently revealed their final list of retained and released players ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. UP Warriorz released the most number of players as they let go of their entire squad, while retaining only uncapped batter Shweta Sehrawat. They will head into the WPL 2026 auction with the highest purse of Rs 14.5 crore.

Delhi Capitals, who let go of their captain and Australia legend Meg Lanning, will enter the auction with a purse of Rs 5.7 crore. Lanning led DC to back-to-back WPL finals, however, she was let go by the franchise ahead of the upcoming auction. DC retained a total of five players, including India stars Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues.

Mumbai Indians also retained five players, including skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and will head into the auction with a purse of Rs 5.75 crore. Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who won the 2024 edition of the tournament, will have a purse of Rs 6.15 crore after retaining Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Richa Ghosh, and Shreyanka Patil.

Big names like Alyssa Healy, Deepti Sharma, Tahlia McGrath and Grace Harris, all released by the UP Warriorz, are expected to be among the most in-demand players at the WPL 2026 auction. As per Cricbuzz, WPL 2026 is likely to take place from January 07 to February 03 this year. There are likely to be only two venues for the tournament.
