New Delhi: Marnus Labuschagne didn’t pass the opportunity to take a swipe at Chris Broad following Australia’s Ashes series triumph with victory in the third Test in Adelaide on Sunday.

Labuschagne wasn’t successful in scoring big in the match but made vital contribution with two superb catches in slips in Australia’s 82-run victory at Adelaide Oval for an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series lead.

Speaking after their victory, Labuschagne mocked former England seamer Broad, now a commentator, for his pre-series comment on the Australian team’s overall quality.

On his podcast in October, Broad said that Pat Cummins's side were "probably the worst Australian team since 2010 when England last won”.

Broad also felt that Ben Stokes' side were the best English team since 2010, when they had last won an Ashes series Down Under.

"So those things match up to the fact it's going to be a brilliant Ashes series," he had said.

"Being called the worst Australian team in 15 years ... it's nice to be sitting where we are now, three-nil up," Labuschagne told ABC radio.

The right hand batter scored 19 and 13 in his two innings but flew to his left to take stunning one-handed catches in England’s fourth innings chase of 435.

On the fourth day, his acrobatic attempt led to the dismissal of number three England batter Ollie Pope and he pulled off a similar effort on the final day to send back Will Jacks for 47 off Mitchell Starc.

His sharpness on the field was in sharp contrast to the tourists who dropped several chances in Adelaide.

Harry Brook gave reprieve to Usman Khawaja in the slips early in his first innings that helped him score 82.

Brook was again guilty when he grassed more difficult chance in the gully with Travis Head for 99 on day three as he went on to score 170.
